EuRoPe Challenge # 6 - Portugal - Lisbon tram

....e benvenute in Portogallo!! Lo so, è tardi, quindi vi mostro subito l'immagine che mi ha ispirato la nail art di oggi.

... And welcome to Portugal !! I know, it's late, so I'm going to show you the picture that inspired my nail art.

E' lui, il tram di Lisbona, uno dei simboli della città, che percorre su e giù le strade pendenti e strettissime del quartiere dell'Alfama, dove nessun autobus riuscirebbe a passare! Il design interno è quello in legno dei primi del Novecento, anche se con gli anni è stato rimodernato.

Ho cercato di riprodurlo sull'anulare utilizzando come base un giallo senape che non vedevo l'ora di mostrarvi ancora, Elevation Polish Streetside, NYC, il bianco è lo Shaka Matt White, per l'intelaiatura che ho disegnato a mano (argh!!), il nero della french-tetto è il solito Camelot A-England e il fanale è una pietruzza.

It's the Lisbon tram, one of the symbols of this city, which runs up and down the narrow streets of the Alfama district where no bus would be able to pass! The interior design is in wood, the same as it was in the early twentieth century, although it has been modernized over the years. 

The base for my nail art is Elevation Polish Streetside, NYC. You have already seen it, but I love it. The white is Shaka Matt White for my free-hand lines, the black for the roof is A-England Camelot, and the light is a rhinestone.

Discontinued Day #16 - Elevation Polish Discontinued Part II in: Azure Caverns, Higvrastinden and Broad Peak

Buonasera a tutte!
Oggi ho deciso di tirare fuori dai miei cassetti polverosi un trio di Elevation Polish purtroppo discontinuati.
Il primo è Azure Caverns, un azzurro a base jelly pieno di glitter iridescenti e un velo di shimmer in tono con la base.
Tre passate nelle foto sotto perché è un po' trasparente. Adoro l'effetto sandwich dei glitter che traspaiono!



Good evening girls! 
Today I decided to get out from my dusty drawers an unfortunately doscontinued Elevation Polish trio.
The first one is Azure Caverns, a blue jelly base filled with iridescent glitter and a hint of blue shimmer. 
Three coats in the pictures below because it's a little sheer. I love that glitter sandwich effect!

Il secondo è Higvrastinden, per gli amici Hig (sul fondo della boccetta si legge Hig :-) ). Fa parte della Island Collection ed è un verde acqua con un forte shimmer dello stesso tono. Due passate nelle foto che seguono.

The second one is Higvrastinden, or Hig (on the bottom of the bottle we read Hig). It's part of the Island Collection and it's a light teal with a strong teal shimme. Two coats in the pictures below.

L'ultimo che vi mostro è il più autunnale del gruppo, Broad Peak, un marrone rossastro, con un leggero effetto duochrome che vira verso il verde-oro, e sotto certe luci appare quasi violaceo, Insomma, un bel mix di colori. Due passate nelle foto sotto.


The last one is definetely a Fall colour, Broad Peak, a reddish brown, with a slight duochrome effect.  Sometimes it turns into a green-gold, and under certain lights it looks almost purple: a nice mix of colours! Two coats in the pictures below.

Holothon 2.0 - # 14 : Elevation Polish Aiguilles d'Arves

Ciao bimbe!!
Oggi è l'ultima puntata della Holothon! Sono un po' triste per questo, perché la mia febbre per gli holo in questa lunga maratona che ci ha accompagnato tutta l'estate è salita invece di scendere!! Ma non preoccupatevi, il nostro appuntamento con le Friday Twinsie continua con nuove sorprese dalla prossima settimana!
Ho voluto concludere la Holothon con uno smalto dai colori fortemente autunnali: è un altro Elevation Polish, dalla The Fan Collection for December 2013, ed è un marrone rossastro linear che ho trovato bellissimo.

Today is the last Holothon day! I am a bit sad about it, because my holo fever has risen up during this long summery marathon!! But don't worry, our Twinsie Friday keeps on with new surprises next week! 
I wanted to end this Holothon with a Fall holo. Aiguilles d'Arves is another Elevation Polish, from the Fan Collection for December 2013 and it's a red-toned warm brown linear holo, so gorgeous!

Dancing in September contest by GoldFrancine

Buongiorno a tutte!
GoldFrancine ha ideato un contest davvero bello in tema settembrino! Volete saperne di più? Correte a leggere il suo post!
Ho deciso di partecipare, perché mentre guardavo il video degli Earth Wind & Fire, mi è arrivata l'ispirazione, e ho "saputo" cos'avrei voluto fare!
Una manicure ispirata ai costumi dei membri del gruppo! Poi mi direte se secondo voi ci sono riuscita.

Prima di passare alle foto un paio di annotazioni. Causa grave rottura al medio della swatching hand, sono passata alla mano destra, e non sono più abituata a scattare foto con la sinistra :-(
Seconda cosa: perdonate le sbavature del top coat! Spero che la prossima volta vada meglio!

GoldFrancine had a really nice idea for a September themed contest! Do you want to know something more? Run and read this post! 
I decided to participate, because while I was watching the Earth Wind & Fire video, I had a sudden inspiration, and I "knew" what to do! 
A manicure inspired by the costumes of the members of the group! Then you'll tell me if I succeeded a bit.

Here's what I used: 
white base: Shaka Matt White 
gold base: China Glaze Passion 
stripes: Elevation Polish The Arches, Kiko 367 Pearly Pink Salmon and Elevation Polish Streetside, New York 


Before moving onto the pictures, a couple of notes. I broke seriously my swatching hand middle finger, so I had to use my right hand, but it was very hard to take pictures with the left hand :-(
Second thing: unfortunately the top coat smeared everything! I hope next time will be better!

Birthstone Challenge # 8 - Peridot: Shaka CH1 Bronze ft. Elevation Polish Aguja St. Exupery as special guest

Quante di voi conoscevano questa pietra prima che la Chanel lanciasse il famosissimo Peridot? Io no, però trovo che sia una pietra bellissima!
Ho scelto per rappresentarla uno dei numerosi dupes del Peridot di Chanel, lo Shaka Bronze, un multichrome che copre tutti i colori della pietra, dall'oro al bronzo al verde. All'ombra si possono vedere tutti comodamente!!



How many of you knew this stone before the well-known Chanel Peridot? I do not, but I find it a beautiful stone! 
I chose a Chanel Peridot dupe to represent it, Shaka Bronze, a multichrome that covers all the peridot colors, from gold to bronze to green. In the shade you can see them all without any problem!!

E poi, dato che mi piace giocare con i top coat, ho provato a dargli qualche sbrillo olografico, aggiungendo una passata di Elevation Polish Aguja St. Exupery.


And then, since I like playing with top coats, I added some holographic bling, with a coat of Elevation Polish Aguja St. Exupery.

Rainbow Ladies 2.0 # 12 - Grey - Elevation Polish Yeti was a shadow

Buonasera a tutte e buon venerdì!!
In questo penultimo appuntamento con le Rainbow Ladies abbiamo un colore che non troviamo nello spettro dell'arcobaleno, e che abbiamo aggiunto quest'anno: il grigio.
Smaltosamente parlando è un colore che amo molto, infatti ho molti grigi nel mio stash!
Vi ho raccontato tempo fa che ho una fissa particolare per il brand indie Elevation Polish, e, se proprio devo cedere per un ordine negli Usa, ordino da loro. Lulu, la creatrice di Elevation Polish, ha creato una linea speciale di smalti dedicata solo ai fan, e che non si trova in vendita. Nei nomi di questi smalti appare sempre lo Yeti, che è una sorta di mascotte di Elevation Polish. Nell'ultimo ordine che ho fatto, ho avuto l'incredibile fortuna di trovarmi come bonus questa chicca favolosa: Yeti was a shadow è infatti un holo grigio scuro, un colore assolutamente unico nel mio stash!!
E' quasi one coater, anche se ho dato due passate. Non è un holo spacca retina, ma dà allo smalto una profondità pazzesca: ditemi, non è bellissimo? :-)

Today we have an extra-rainbow colour, one of those added this year: grey!
It's a nail polish colour that I love very much, in fact I have a lot of grey bottles in my stash!
I've told you that I have an obsession with the indie brand Elevation Polish, and sometimes I buy from them, despite the customs. Lulu from Elevation Polish created a special line of nail polish only for fans, and not for sale. In the names of these nail polishes there's always the Yeti, the Elevation Polish's mascot. In the last order I made, I had the incredible luck to receive Yeti was a shadow, a gorgeous slate grey holo unique in my stash!!
It 's an almost one coater, although I have put two coats on my nails. It's not a "palm in the face" holo, but it gives a wonderful depth to this colour. Tell me, it's gorgeous, isn't it?

Discontinued Day #10 - Elevation Polish discontinued: Khongoryn Els, Gobi and Marmolada

Ragazze, siamo già arrivate al decimo appuntamento con il nostro Discontinued Day! E' un appuntamento che amo molto, e mi permette anche di smaltire la pila degli untrieds: che volere di più? :-)
Oggi dedico questo DD al mio brand indie preferito, nonostante la difficile reperibilità. Infatti li compro dall'America, sfidando la dogana, sul loro sito: http://elevationpolish.bigcartel.com/
Ve ne mostrerò tre, come ultimamente mi diverto a fare nei DD, completamente diversi l'uno dall'altro.
Il primo è Khongoryn Els. Fa parte della Mongolia Collection, è un taupe con un fortissimo shimmer viola completamente coprente in due passate. E' un accostamento molto particolare, e al sole è bellissimo!! L'ispirazione viene dalla luce viola del crepuscolo sulle dune del deserto del Gobi.

Time has flown by and today is already the 10th Discontinued Day! I really love this Twinsie, and I also can reduce my untrieds pile: I cannot ask more! ^^
I dedicate this DD to my favourite indie brand, even if it's so tricky to have it here in Italy. I buy my EP directly on their website: http://elevationpolish.bigcartel.com/ despite the customs.
I'm going to show you three of them.
Khongoryn Els, part of the Mongolia Collection, is a taupe with a strong purple shimmer completely opaque in two coats. The inspiration of this nail polish comes from Khongoryn Els dunes of the Gobi desert at dusk, with this amazing purple light.

Il secondo è Gobi, e fa parte anche lui della Mongolia Collection. E' un holo scattered color sabbia con uno shimmer che va dal verde all'arancio (anche se il verde predomina). Anche lui coprente in due passate.



Gobi it's part of the Mongolia Collection too. It's a holographic scattered sand nail polish with a green to orange (but green is very very strong) colour shift. Two coats too.

L'ultimo che vi mostro è Marmolada, che fa parte della 321 Metres Collection. E' un jelly celeste-grigio pieno di glitter circolari argento e azzurri di varie dimensioni, piccoli glitter viola e microglitter argento. Nelle foto vedete due passate senza base colorata sotto. Ce l'ho ancora sulle unghie e mi piace un sacco!




The last one it's Marmolada, part of the 321 Metres Collection. It's a glitter polish in a grey-blue jelly base full of blue and silver circle glitters in various sizes along with small purple glitters and silver micro-glitter. Two coats without an undie! I still have it on my nails and I'm in love with it!!

Giardino d'inverno # 2 - Camouflage nails

Buongiorno a tutte!
Per questo nuovo appuntamento con il Giardino d'Inverno ho suggerito come tema una "tecnica di nail art". Molto vago, eh? A dir la verità quando l'ho proposto non avevo ancora pensato a cosa fare. A volte l'ispirazione giunge improvvisa, e stavolta è arrivata grazie a mio figlio. Ha disegnato una barca mimetica (ripresa da un episodio di Oggy e i maledetti scarafaggi) e mi è venuto in mente che avevo sempre desiderato provare una nail art mimetica :-)
Così ho preso il tutorial di Chalkboard Nails e ho provato a dare la mia interpretazione.

Ecco cosa ho usato:

Base color panna: OPI My vampire is buff
Nero:                   A-England Camelot
Giallo:                  Elevation Polish Streetside, NYC
Verde:                 Illamasqua Kink
Top coat:             Butter London Matte finish Shine Free Topcoat

For the second day of the Winter Garden I suggested as a theme a "technique of nail art." Very vague, isn't it? To tell you the truth, when I suggested this, I had no idea about what to do. Sometimes inspiration comes suddenly, and this time it has arrived thanks to my son. He drew a camouflage boat (taken from an episode of Oggy and the Cockroaches) and I thought that I had always wanted to try a camouflage nail art :-) 

So I took the tutorial from Sarah at Chalkboard Nails and that's what I did. 

Here's what I used: 

Cream base: OPI My vampire is buff 

Black:           A-England Camelot 

Yellow:          Elevation Polish Streetside, NYC 

Green:          Illamasqua Kink 

Top coat:      Butter London Matte Finish Shine Free Topcoat 

Brush:          Born Pretty Store Brush Nail Art 0000

Kkcenterhk N.NAIL Animal Pattern Stamp Plate part I - Zebra nails ft. Elevation Polish Toubkal + Illamasqua Swinger

Sono rimasta un po' indietro con i post: ho un sacco di foto pronte e diversi post da scrivere! Cominciamo!
Ultimamente ho una vera e propria passione per lo stamping e quando la kkcenterhk mi ha proposto di spedirmi una plate ho colto l'occasione al volo! Uno dei design che preferisco è quello animalier ed ecco cosa ho scelto.

Lately I fell in love with the technique of the stamping and when kkcenterhk asked me to review a stamping plate I jumped at the chance! One of my favourite design is the animal print and this is what I chose.

Ho provato tre pattern su cinque, e ho deciso di suddividere i miei esperimenti in tre post. Il primo che vi mostro è la zebra. Dato che vi avevo già proposto una zebra con i classici colori bianco/nero, stavolta mi sono divertita a scegliere dei colori un po' più originali e natalizi: un bel rosso vino con flakies dorati come base (Elevation Polish Toubkal) e un oro per stampare (Illamasqua Swinger).

I tried three out of five patterns, and I decided to split my experiments in three posts. The first one is the zebra pattern. Since I had already proposed you a zebra pattern with the classic black/white combo, this time I had fun choosing some Christmas colors. A gorgeous red wine with gold flakies as a base (Elevation Polish Toubkal) and a gold used for stamping (Illamasqua Swinger).

Battle of Planets # 7 - Asteroids: Essie Steel-ing the scene

Buongiorno a tutte!!
Oggi post programmato: ho approfittato del week end lungo per andare al Lago di Ledro con tutta la famiglia! La Battaglia dei Pianeti si combatte comunque ^^ : pioggia di asteroidi sui nostri blog e il colore dominante sarà il grigio!
Lo smalto che ho scelto mi convinceva più dalla boccetta che sulle unghie. Viene da una vecchia collezione della Essie, addirittura Inverno 2007; è un chrome color acciaio dai sottotoni gialli. Opaco in due passate, si vedono un po' di brushstrokes, ma neanche troppo!

Today scheduled post. This week we have a long week end, so I decided to pack two or three clothes and go to the Ledro Lake with my family! For our Battle of Planets today we'll see an asteroid shower on our blogs and the main color is grey!
I chose a polish that is better from the bottle than on the nails. It comes from an old Essie collection, Winter 2007, and it's a chrome steel with yellow undertones. Opaque in two coats, with not so much brushstrokes ^^

Da solo però non mi convince molto, quindi ho pensato di "abbellirlo" con una nail art. Questo grigio non mi ha ispirato molto a dir la verità: un po' di fail ed ecco cosa mi è uscito.
Ho fatto una gradient con il Layla Magneffect # 01 Black metal touch sulle punte e poi ho aggiunto il top coat glitterato Froze to Death di Elevation Polish (ottimo per nail art invernali! :-) ). Cosa ve ne pare?



I don't like it very much on its own, so I decided to try a nail art. After a few fails I came up with this one. 
I did a gradient with Layla Magneffect # 01 Black metal touch on the tips and then I added the glitter top coat Froze to Death by Elevation Polish (great for a winter nail art :-)). What do you think about it?
